What does this fault code mean?
The coolant degassing valve (Degas) is operated by a solenoid driven from the engine control module (ECM). The code is set when the reading drops under a set level as the solenoid is activated. The fault may lie in the solenoid, the connector, the wiring or the engine control module.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged solenoid
- Damaged connector
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse that supplies the solenoid
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the solenoid has no contact with ground
- 3Look at the connector at the solenoid for damage and corrosion
- 4Have a workshop decide whether the solenoid or the engine control module is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
