What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) drives the solenoid for the Degas valve, which regulates engine temperature more efficiently. The code is set when the signal is higher than a set level as the solenoid is activated. The cause may be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, a damaged solenoid, a damaged connector or the engine control module.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged solenoid
- Damaged connector
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the solenoid has not blown
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the solenoid has no contact with the positive supply
- 3Check the connector at the solenoid for damage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the control signal to the solenoid in live data when it is activated
- 5If nothing is found, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment decide whether the fault lies in the solenoid or the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- Air conditioning does not work
- Heater does not work
