What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the heat in the output stage that activates the bypass valve solenoid becomes too high. The engine control module (ECM) operates the solenoid, which is used to regulate engine temperature more effectively.
Possible causes
- Damaged solenoid
- Damaged signal line
- Damaged connector
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Look at the connector at the solenoid for visible damage or loose contacts
- 2Check the signal wire for visible damage
- 3Have a workshop decide whether the solenoid or the output stage of the engine control module is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
