What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) drives the fuel filter heater through its drive stage. The code is set when the temperature in that drive stage is too high. Poor connections or an internal fault in the heater can be the cause, and the heating is then switched off.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
- Internal fault in the fuel filter heater
What you can do
- 1Check the fuel filter heater connections for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Check that the fuse for the fuel filter heater is intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, check whether the code is active now or only stored
- 4Let the car cool down and then see whether the code returns
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop decide whether the fuel filter heater is damaged

- Engine hard to start and cranks slowly in cold weather
