What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) sends control signals to the fuel filter heater. The code is set when the cable to the heater has contact with supply voltage, which is a short to voltage, and then fuel filter heating is switched off. Poor connections can also cause it.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Cable shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse for the fuel filter heater
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the heater has no contact with the positive supply
- 3Check the connectors at the heater for oxidation and loose contacts
- 4If nothing is found, have a workshop check the heater and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine does not start, only cranks
- Engine hard to start and cranks slowly in cold weather
- Engine hard to start and cranks slowly, at unpredictable times or all the time
- Uneven idle
What the fault can affect1
- Fuel filter heating is switched off
