What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the signal to exhaust damper B and is set when the signal is too low. The cause may be poor contact, a signal wire shorted to ground or a damaged damper, and the engine sound may then be affected.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
- The exhaust damper is damaged
- Exhaust damper B is on the left-hand side as seen in the direction of travel
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their location is shown in the owner's manual
- 2Check the connector to damper B for looseness and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to damper B has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4With a diagnostic tool, activate damper B and check in live data that the value follows the control
- 5Have a workshop check damper B if the fault remains after the connector check
Symptoms you may notice3
- Unusual noise while driving, sometimes or all the time
- Unusual noise when the engine is switched off
- Unusual noise during acceleration
