What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the signal from the oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1 and is set when the signal is too high. The engine control module (ECM) uses the signal to assess the fuel and air mixture. The cause lies in the signal wire or in the sensor itself.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Look for chafed wiring to the oxygen sensor where the insulation may have been damaged
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with positive supply when the connector is unplugged
- 4With a diagnostic tool, compare the oxygen sensor value in live data with how it moves during a test drive
- 5Have a workshop calibrate and check the oxygen sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The last value measured by the oxygen sensor is used
