What does this fault code mean?
The code means that the oxygen sensor signal on bank 1, sensor 1 stays constantly high. The engine control module (ECM) calculates the sensor temperature from its internal resistance and sets the code when the value is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged oxygen sensor
- Internal fault in the ECM
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check that the connector to the oxygen sensor is secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the sensor has no break
- 4With a diagnostic tool, compare the oxygen sensor value in live data with the engine running and see whether it changes
- 5Have a workshop check the oxygen sensor and the engine control module if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
