What does this fault code mean?
The oxygen sensor signal on bank 1, sensor 1 ends up outside the expected values while driving, because the fuel and air mixture deviates abnormally from what is expected. The cause may be an open wire or a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Look for a break in the signal wire to the oxygen sensor, especially at the connectors
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has continuity between the oxygen sensor and the engine control module
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the oxygen sensor signal in live data during a test drive and see whether it fluctuates unevenly
- 5Have a workshop check the oxygen sensor if the fault remains after the wire check
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
