What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the signal from the oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1 has a frequency that is too low. The fault can only be detected under certain driving conditions, for example when engine braking is used, so it does not always show.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check the connections at the oxygen sensor for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 3Look for chafed wiring from the oxygen sensor where it may have touched the body
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the oxygen sensor signal in live data while driving with engine braking and see whether it fluctuates
- 5Have a workshop check the oxygen sensor if the fault remains after the wiring check
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
