What does this fault code mean?
Even though the code is named a bus or message fault, it concerns the signal from the oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1, which is above the allowed range. The fault can be detected when the car is driving with light load, and the cause may be a signal wire that has picked up voltage or a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check the connections at the oxygen sensor for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with positive supply when the connector is unplugged
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the oxygen sensor value in live data while the car drives with light load and see whether it stays high all the time
- 5Have a workshop check the oxygen sensor if the fault remains after the connection check
