What does this fault code mean?
The code is event controlled and should be seen as information, not as a fault in the control module. It is set if the rear oxygen sensor on bank 1 is not activated or reacts too slowly when the engine control module switches between rich and lean fuel and air mixture.
Possible causes
- The code is only information and does not come from a fault that has to be fixed
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and see whether it is active or only stored
- 2The code does not show that the control module is faulty, so there is no fault-tracing to do based on it alone
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the rear oxygen sensor value in live data with the engine warm at idle, after the car has been driven, and see whether it fluctuates
- 4Have a workshop look at the rear oxygen sensor first only if something else indicates that it is not working
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
