What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns valve 2 in the cooling circuit for the drive components of the hybrid. It is set when the signal wire to the valve is shorted or has an open circuit, and the engine control module (ECM) monitors the valve all the time. If the valve does not work, cooling of the drive components may stop.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault on the valve
- Electrical fault on the valve
- Short circuit or open circuit in the wires to the valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check the connections at valve 2 for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 3Look for chafed wiring to valve 2 where it may have touched the body
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to valve 2 have no contact with ground (the body)
- 5With a diagnostic tool, activate valve 2 in the cooling circuit and listen or feel whether it moves
Symptoms you may notice2
- The combustion engine runs in HYBRID mode more often than expected
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
