Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the shut-off valve in the A/C system, that is the evaporator valve for cooling. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the valve all the time, and if it does not work the A/C function is affected. The code is set when the signal wire to the valve is shorted or has an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault on the valve
- Electrical fault on the valve
- Short circuit or open circuit in the wires to the valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their location is shown in the owner's manual
- 3Check the connectors to the valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve are not shorted to ground (the body)
- 5With a diagnostic tool, activate the valve and listen or feel whether it moves
- 6Have a workshop check the valve if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- Temperature control or air conditioning does not work
- The combustion engine runs in HYBRID mode more often than expected
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
