What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the shut-off valve in the A/C system, that is the evaporator cooling valve. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the valve all the time, and if it does not work the A/C function is affected. The code is set when the signal wire to the valve is shorted or has an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault on the valve
- Electrical fault on the valve
- Short circuit or open circuit in the wires to the valve
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors to the valve for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 2Look for chafed wiring to the valve where it may have touched positive supply
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve have no contact with positive supply when the connector is unplugged
- 4Have a workshop check the valve if the fault remains after these checks
Symptoms you may notice3
- Temperature control or air conditioning does not work
- The combustion engine runs in HYBRID mode more often than expected
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
