What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the electric water pump, which has an internal check of whether the pump draws too much current. It is set when the engine control module (ECM) receives a fault signal from the pump, and the pump motor overheats if the fault is not corrected.
Possible causes
- Dirt or blocking objects prevent the pump wheel from rotating
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their location is shown in the owner's manual
- 3Look for dirt or objects that may stop the pump wheel from turning, but let the engine cool down first
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the water pump with the tool and listen for it to start
- 5Have a workshop check the pump if the fault remains after the blockage has been removed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The pump motor overheats
