What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares its configuration ID with the signal setup that the central electronic module (CEM) sends on the CAN network. The code concerns communication on the sensor CAN and is set when the IDs do not match.
Possible causes
- Faulty CAN configuration ID, for example if a used engine control module with different software or hardware has been fitted to the car
- Open circuit in the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Tell the workshop if the engine control module has recently been replaced, since a module that is not intended for the car can cause the code
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires have no break
- 4Check the connectors to the engine control module for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 5Have a workshop check that the engine control module has the right software and configuration for the car
