What does this fault code mean?
The ECM gets a torque request signal from the transmission control module (TCM). The code is set when the quality of that signal is too low, and a damaged TCM is the cause given.
Possible causes
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Fault-trace the transmission control module (TCM) first, since it is the module sending the signal
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the codes in the engine control module and deal with any other CAN-related codes first
- 4Have a workshop check the transmission control module, since it is the cause given for the fault
Symptoms you may notice1
- The automatic gearbox shifts hard or jerkily, sometimes or all the time
What the fault can affect1
- Torque requests from the transmission control module (TCM) are no longer used by the ECM
