What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the TCM signal. The code is set when the checksum of the message is wrong, which may be caused by an open circuit or a short circuit in the signal wire.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check that the connectors on the signal wire are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no break or short to ground or voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the codes in the transmission control module and see whether they also show communication faults
- 5Have a workshop check the signal wire if the fault remains after these checks
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine lacks power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output and speed are limited
