What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches TCM signals and also waits for the gear selector (GSM) signal. The code is set when the signal from the gear selector is missing, and the cause may be an open circuit or a short circuit in the signal wire.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and see whether it is active or only stored
- 2Check that the connectors on the signal wire to the gear selector are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the gear selector has no break or short to ground or voltage
- 4Have a workshop check the gear selector and the signal wire if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
