What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the signal from the forward sensing module (FSM), which the engine control module (ECM) uses to provide brake support when there is a risk of collision. It is set when the signal from the FSM is incorrect, and also when communication with the FSM or the central electronic module (CEM) stops.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication cable
- Communication cable shorted to ground or voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- The engine control module is not intended for the car, for example a used module with other software or hardware
- The fault may lie in the forward sensing module (FSM)
- The fault may lie in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
- 2Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and in the forward sensing module, since they may show where the fault is
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the communication cables to the forward sensing module and to the central electronic module have no break and no contact with ground or voltage
- 4Tell the workshop if the engine control module has been replaced, since its software then has to be reloaded
- 5Have a workshop check the forward sensing module, since the system is part of the car's safety functions

- Cruise control does not engage

What the fault can affect2
- Cruise control is disengaged for as long as the fault is active
- Cruise control cannot be activated
