What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the alternator control module (ACM) over the LIN bus. The code is set when communication stops, in this case because the LIN wiring between the two modules has a break. Although the code is titled lost communication with the starter/generator control module, the break is on the LIN bus.
Possible causes
- LIN link lost between the engine control module and the alternator module
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the codes in the engine control module and first fix any other communication faults, as they may share the same cause
- 3Check the connectors at the alternator control module and the engine control module for loose or corroded contacts
- 4Look for chafed or pinched wiring on the LIN bus linking the engine control module and the alternator control module
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the LIN wire has no break. Move and flex the wiring at suspect points, as the break may be intermittent
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the alternator control module and the wiring
