What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) sets the opening of the grille shutter through the active grille shutter control module (AGM) over LIN. The code is set when the engine control module has no communication with the AGM. Fault codes from the AGM are stored in the engine control module's memory.
Possible causes
- Break or short to ground on the supply voltage to the AGM
- Break in the LIN connection between the engine control module and the AGM
- Internal fault in the AGM
What you can do
- 1First check for active fault codes in the shutter control module, as they are stored in the engine control module
- 2Check that the shutter slats are clean and free from dirt, snow, ice and other objects
- 3Check visually that the linkage to the shutter slats is secure. If it is loose, the shutter cannot open or close
- 4Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors are tight, clean and not oxidised
- 5Look for chafed wiring. Use a multimeter to check that the LIN and earth wires have no break or short to ground or supply voltage
- 6With a diagnostic tool, do not start the engine until the shutter command has finished. If it returns, have a workshop check the module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel consumption is abnormally high
What the fault can affect1
- The electric cooling fan may run slightly faster than normal, as it is controlled by a calculated value
