What does this fault code mean?
This code is a follow-on fault from a code in the transmission control module (TCM). On cars with an automatic gearbox, the engine control module receives the current torque amplification information from the TCM over CAN, and the code is set when that signal is judged to be faulty. The root fault in the TCM should be fixed first, and the code in the engine control module can then be cleared.
Possible causes
- Fault in the transmission control module (TCM), which should be checked first
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the transmission control module (TCM) and fix the root fault first. Then clear the code in the engine control module
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the CAN connectors between the engine control module and the transmission module for loose or corroded contacts
- 4If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the transmission control module
Symptoms you may notice1
