What does this fault code mean?
The TCM keeps asking the engine control module for a set amount of torque. That torque is adjusted through air, which is slow, or through ignition timing, which is fast. The code is set when the ECM detects a fault in that torque request. Although the code is titled signal invalid, it concerns the torque request.
Possible causes
- Fault in the transmission control module (TCM)
- Disturbances or breaks on the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the transmission control module and fix them first
- 2Look for other CAN-related codes in the engine control module and fix them first
- 3Check the CAN connectors for loose or corroded contacts and look for chafed wiring
- 4If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the transmission control module and the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
