What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the cruise control information that the central electronics control module (CEM) sends over CAN. The code is set when that information is faulty or unreasonable. Although the code is titled a checksum that does not match, it concerns the information from the CEM.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronics control module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronics control module and fix them first
- 2Check the connectors at the steering wheel buttons and in the CAN network for oxidation and loose contacts
- 3After the battery has been disconnected or the engine control module has been reprogrammed: press the brake pedal twice within about two seconds to activate the cruise control again
- 4If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the central electronics control module and its communication with the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cruise control does not work at all
- The cruise control does not engage
What the fault can affect1
- The cruise control is switched off while the fault is active
