What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives information from the glow plug control module. The code is set when the ECM detects a fault in that information. Although the code is titled incorrect component installed, it concerns the information from the glow plug control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged wiring or connectors
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Look for damaged wiring and loose connectors in the glow system
- 3Check that the connectors are clean and secure. Use a multimeter to check that the wires have no break or short to ground or supply voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the status indicators and freeze-frame values to see when the fault occurred
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the glow plug control module and the glow system
