What does this fault code mean?
The glow plug control module sends information to the engine control module (ECM), which checks it. The code is set when the ECM detects a fault in that information. Although the code is titled erratic, it concerns the data from the glow plug control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged wiring or connectors
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the glow plug control module and fix any communication faults first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact and that the glow system receives power
- 3Look for damaged wiring and connectors in the glow system, and check that the connectors are secure and clean
- 4Road test the car from a cold start and see whether starting is hard again after the repair
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the glow plug control module and the wiring
