What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) depends on data from the central electronics control module (CEM) over CAN. The code is set when the ECM detects faulty CAN communication. Although the code is titled invalid signal from the battery energy control module A, it concerns the CAN communication with the CEM.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronics control module (CEM), which should be checked first
What you can do
- 1First look for other CAN-related fault codes in the engine control module and fix them
- 2Check the fuses for the central electronics control module and the engine control module
- 3Check the connections in the CAN network for oxidation and loose contacts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires have no break or short to ground or supply voltage
- 5Do not work on the battery system yourself. If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the central electronics control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
