What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives information about the brake pedal position and status from the brake control module (BCM) over CAN and checks the communication. The code is set when the information from the BCM is incorrect or unreasonable. The cruise control is disengaged while the fault is active. After the ECM has been recharged or the battery has been disconnected, press the brake pedal down twice within about two seconds to activate cruise control.
Possible causes
- The fault is in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the engine control module codes. If any of ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 is stored, check it first.
- 2If any of ECM-U041881, ECM-U041882, ECM-U041648, ECM-U200582 or ECM-U012900 is stored, check it first. It most likely leads to the cause.
- 3The fault is located in the brake control module (BCM). Read out and remedy its fault codes first, then erase this code.
- 4Do not work on the brake system yourself. Have a workshop check the BCM if the code returns.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Cruise control does not engage
What the fault can affect1
- The cruise control is disengaged while the fault is active
