What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) controls the opening of the grille shutter through the active grille shutter module (AGM) over LIN. The AGM runs its own diagnosis and sends the result to the ECM. The code is set when the ECM receives incorrect data from the AGM, and one of the causes is an internal fault in the AGM.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the active grille shutter module (AGM)
What you can do
- 1First check whether the engine control module has other active fault codes, since fault codes for the AGM are stored there.
- 2Check that the shutter rails are free from dirt, snow, ice or anything else that could block them, and clean as needed.
- 3Check visually that the mechanical link between the AGM and the shutter rails is secure, as a loose attachment can stop the shutter opening or closing.
- 4Look for loose connectors, oxidation and chafed wiring at the AGM. If the fault remains, have a workshop read and calibrate the AGM with diagnostic equipment.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Excessive fuel consumption
What the fault can affect1
- The electric cooling fan may run slightly faster than normal, depending on outside temperature, engine temperature and AC compressor pressure, as a calculated value is used to control it
