What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) should receive a real-time clock signal from the central electronic module (CEM). The code is set if the signal has not reached the ECM some time after the ignition is switched on. It is an event-controlled code that only gives information and does not mean that the ECM is faulty. It does not need to be erased, as it disappears once the conditions no longer apply.
Possible causes
- Interference in the CAN network
- Damaged central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Do not remedy this code directly. It is a follow-on fault, so troubleshoot and remedy the other fault codes in the engine control module and CEM first.
- 2If the code returns after a repair, have a workshop read out the CEM and check the CAN network with diagnostic equipment.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
