What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has detected an internal fault in the memory that holds the vehicle configuration. The fault may be temporary, for example caused by interference at start-up, or permanent. The code therefore points to a fault in the engine control module itself.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
- Interference when the engine control module starts up, if the fault is intermittent
What you can do
- 1If the code returns after it has been erased, have a workshop download new software to the engine control module. This requires programming.
- 2If the software does not help or cannot be downloaded, the engine control module must be replaced, and the workshop loads the correct software into the new one.
- 3If the code was set only once and does not return, the fault may have been temporary. Each case is assessed individually.
