What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) gets signals from the forward sensing module (FSM) and applies braking help when a collision threatens. The code is set when a request for braking the car has been active for too long. Although the fault is named a circuit or component protection time-out, the code concerns how long the braking request lasts. It is set after the fault has been stored in the FSM or the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- The fault is in the forward sensing module (FSM)
- The fault is in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the FSM and CEM first and remedy them. This code can be erased only once the root fault is remedied and its fault code erased.
- 2No troubleshooting has been developed for this code. If it returns after the repair, have a workshop read out and troubleshoot the system with diagnostic equipment.
- 3Erase the fault codes once the root fault is remedied, then check on a test drive whether the code returns.
