What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the ignition when the engine is switched off. The code is set when the vehicle is standing still and the ignition has not been deactivated within a set time. The ECM then shuts off the fuel supply to stop the engine. The fault may lie in the ignition lock control module, the start button, the wiring, or the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- The fault is in the central electronic module (CEM)
- The cable from the ignition lock control module (SCU) is short-circuited to ground or voltage, or is open
- Damaged ignition lock control module (SCU)
- Open circuit in the cable between the SCU and the CEM
- The cable from the start button is short-circuited to ground or voltage, or is open
- Damaged start button
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact.
- 2Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and remedy any faults there first.
- 3Check that the start button and its connectors are secure and clean, and look for chafed wiring.
- 4Have a workshop check the ignition lock control module (SCU) and the wiring with diagnostic equipment, as this requires measurement.
