What does this fault code mean?
The fault relates to the pump motor signals, because the power steering module monitors both the current and the speed of the pump motor. A hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist can cause it, for example a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes. The power assistance then becomes weak or is lost.
Possible causes
- Hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, such as a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1After starting the engine, read the fault code status and note whether the code is still present
- 2The steering is hydraulic: check the fluid level and look for leaks at the pump and hoses
- 3Follow the hoses and pipes from the pump to the steering gear and look for pinched or blocked sections
- 4Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
- 5If the fault code returns and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
