What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module registers that its internal temperature is too high. The cause can be high temperature outside or in the engine bay combined with hard driving, or a hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist. The pump motor output is limited, so the power steering gives weak assistance or none at all.
Possible causes
- High outside temperature or high engine bay temperature, combined with hard driving
- Hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, such as a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and read the fault code status
- 2EPS-0030 must be remedied before you trace this code, if both are present
- 3With the engine off, check that the steering wheel turns freely and that the steering does not stick
- 4Look for leaks and for pinched or blocked hoses and pipes in the power steering
- 5Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
- 6If the fault code returns and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
