What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module does not have the correct software for your specific vehicle profile. The fault can occur if the module has no software for the car or has the wrong software. The power steering then uses a preprogrammed general vehicle profile instead of one that suits the car.
Possible causes
- The electric power steering module (EPS) lacks software for this car's profile
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 2If the power steering module has recently been replaced, that is a clear reason to check its software
- 3Have a workshop check and download the correct software for the vehicle profile to the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 4If the fault code returns after the download, have the workshop replace the module and download the current software to the new unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- No symptoms noticeable to the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The power steering works with a preprogrammed general vehicle profile
