What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module has found a fault in its internal memory. The fault may be that the module has the wrong software for the vehicle profile, or that the module is damaged. The power steering then uses a preprogrammed general vehicle profile instead of one that suits the car.
Possible causes
- Wrong software for the current vehicle profile in the power steering module
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check and download the correct software for the vehicle profile to the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 3If the fault code returns and new software does not help, have a workshop replace the module and download the current software to the new unit
- 4If the power steering module has recently been replaced or reprogrammed, that is a clear reason to check its software
