What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module monitors the power supply to it. The fault shows that the voltage is too high. It can be caused by jump starting or boost charging the battery with high voltage, by charge regulation that is not working, or by a damaged module.
Possible causes
- A battery given a jump start or fast charge at excessive voltage
- Charge regulation is not functioning
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1If you have diagnostic equipment: read the battery voltage in live data with the engine running and check that it is steady
- 2Check that the battery terminals and cable connections are tight and free from corrosion
- 3If the battery has recently been jump started or boost charged, note this, as it may be the cause
- 4Have a workshop check the charging system if charge regulation is suspected to be faulty
- 5If the fault code returns with permanent status and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
Symptoms you may notice3
- No or weak power steering assistance
- General warning lamp is lit
- A message appears in the display
What the fault can affect1
- No power steering assistance
