What does this fault code mean?
The EPS reads the speed signal that the BCM sends over the CAN network. The fault code is set when the power steering receives an incorrect speed signal from the BCM. The cause lies in the brake control module.
Possible causes
- Fault in the brake control module (BCM), which sends the speed signal
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) first, since this code is stored in the power steering after the fault in the BCM
- 2Remedy the fault in the BCM according to its fault code, then clear this code
- 3The fault in the BCM can affect the braking system, so have a workshop check the BCM and the brakes
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment: compare the speed value in live data with the speedometer during a road test
Symptoms you may notice2
- Abnormally light steering at high speed
- Abnormally heavy steering at low speed
What the fault can affect1
- The power steering works with a built-in default speed value
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
