What does this fault code mean?
The power steering receives information from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network that the engine is running. The fault code is set when the engine status signal or the engine speed signal from the engine control module is wrong or missing. The fault therefore lies in the engine control module, and the code is set there first.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module (ECM), which sends the engine status and speed
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the engine control module (ECM) first and remedy them there
- 2Clear this fault code only after the fault in the engine control module has been remedied and cleared
- 3Road test the car and read the fault codes again to see whether this code returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- No symptoms noticeable to the driver
What the fault can affect1
- With the ignition on the pump motor starts, which gives power steering even when the engine is not running
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
