What does this fault code mean?
Although the fault is named battery voltage, the condition concerns the message the CEM (central electronic module) sends about the power the steering may draw. The power steering monitors the signal, and the fault code is set when it registers that the signal is wrong. The cause therefore lies mainly in the CEM.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which sends the information about permitted power consumption
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and remedy them there, since this code is stored after the fault in the CEM
- 2Clear this fault code only after the fault in the CEM has been remedied and cleared
- 3Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon if the code remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- No or weak power steering assistance
What the fault can affect1
- The power steering uses the last permitted power consumption
