What does this fault code mean?
The power steering normally receives the information it needs from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN communication. The fault code is set when communication with the CEM is lost, or when the value is wrong for a longer period. Fault tracing starts in the CEM, since it is the control module that sends the information.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which sends the information
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and remedy them there
- 2Check that the connectors to the CEM and to the power steering are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the CAN cables, since this requires the CEM to be disconnected
Symptoms you may notice1
- No symptoms noticeable to the driver
