What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module monitors the current to the pump motor and registers a current that is too high. The fault can be caused by a hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, such as a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes, or by a damaged module. Power steering control then does not work.
Possible causes
- Hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, such as a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and read the fault code status
- 2Look for leaks and for pinched or blocked hoses and pipes in the power steering
- 3Check that the steering wheel turns freely and that the steering gear is not blocked
- 4If the fault code returns with permanent status and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 5Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
