What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module monitors its own internal temperature, and the fault code is set when it becomes too high. The cause is a temperature that is too high in the module itself. This can happen when it is hot outside or in the engine bay and the car is driven hard, or with a hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist.
Possible causes
- Too high temperature in the control module
What you can do
- 1Let the car cool down after hard driving, then read the fault code status again
- 2Check that the power steering does not leak and that hoses and pipes are not pinched or blocked
- 3Start the engine once the module has cooled and check that the fault code does not return
- 4If the fault code returns with permanent status and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 5Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Power steering control does not work
