What does this fault code mean?
The power steering monitors the pump motor, and the fault code is set when the pump motor fails to start. The cause can be a battery voltage that is too low, a fault in the power supply, or a damaged module. The fault shows as a yellow warning symbol in the display.
Possible causes
- Battery voltage too low
- Faulty power supply
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is charged and that the battery terminals are tight and free from corrosion
- 2Check the fuses for the power steering and replace a blown fuse with one of the correct rating
- 3Start the engine and read the fault code status
- 4The steering is hydraulic: check the fluid level and look for leaks
- 5If the fault code returns with permanent status and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 6Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
Symptoms you may notice2
- Steering needs extra or uneven effort
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
