What does this fault code mean?
The module cannot get the pump motor to reach the position it requests, because the pump motor will not start. The causes are battery voltage that is too low, a faulty power supply, or a damaged module. The power steering then gives weak or no assistance.
Possible causes
- Battery voltage too low
- Faulty power supply
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Charge the battery if needed and check that the battery terminals are clean and firmly connected
- 2Check that the fuses for the power steering are intact
- 3Look for leaks and for pinched or blocked hoses and pipes in the power steering
- 4If the fault code returns with permanent status and no fault is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 5Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
Symptoms you may notice2
- Steering needs extra or uneven effort
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
