What does this fault code mean?
The power steering module monitors its internal temperature, and the fault code is set when components or the system become too hot. This can be caused by high temperature outside or in the engine bay combined with hard driving, by a hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, or by a damaged module.
Possible causes
- High outside temperature or engine bay temperature combined with hard driving
- Hydraulic or mechanical problem in the steering assist, such as a blocked steering gear or blocked hoses and pipes
- The electric power steering module (EPS) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Let the car cool down after hard driving, then read the fault code status
- 2Check that the power steering does not leak and that hoses and pipes are not pinched or blocked
- 3Check that the steering does not stick when the engine is off
- 4If the fault comes back as permanent and no cause is found, have a workshop replace the electric power steering module (EPS)
- 5Power steering affects how easily the car can be steered, so have a workshop fix the fault soon
Symptoms you may notice2
- Steering needs extra or uneven effort
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The pump motor output is limited
