What does this fault code mean?
The front display module has a configuration ID that does not match the one the central electronic module (CEM) sends out on the CAN network. The fault code is set when the difference is found at the start of CAN communication. The cause can be a used module with different software or hardware, or an open circuit in the CAN wiring to the CEM.
Possible causes
- Wrong configuration ID, because the module is not intended for this car, for example a used module with different software or hardware
- Open circuit in the CAN wiring between the module and the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and remedy them there
- 2Has the display module been replaced without new software being downloaded? If so, that may be the explanation
- 3Programming and software download is a workshop task: have a workshop download new software to the display module
- 4Check that the connectors in the CAN network between the display and the CEM are secure and free from oxidation
- 5Clear the fault code after the repair and check that it does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- The front display does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The module switches itself off, known as bus-off
- The module still responds to diagnostic commands while the fault code is stored
